A TEACHER from Shaw is donning his running shoes for a cause close to his heart.
Simon Howard, who works at Yew Tree School in Chadderton, is running the Edinburgh Marathon this weekend in memory of step-son Aaron Ashforth.
Aaron (pictured) died in October, 2008, from sudden unexpected death in epilepsy.
The former Royton and Crompton student had been studying forensic computing at the University of Central Lancashire and was looking forward to moving to Canada once he had completed his degree.
Simon (40), who has previously run the Silverstone Half Marathon and the Great North Run twice, said: “I’ve done about 20 miles so far. They say you shouldn’t run the full 26 while you train so I’m going to leave that until the day!”
