Crompton House senior choir... excited to perform at Westminster Abbey
A royal experience awaits singers at Crompton House school.
The senior choir has received its third invitation to sing at Westminster Abbey following visits in 2005 and 2007.
Next month, 50 pupils will perform the anthem Be Thou My Vision by John Rutter — whose music featured in the recent Royal wedding at the Abbey.
Director of music, Jack Pickford, said: “As a church school it is particularly inspiring to be invited to sing and lead the worship at Westminster Abbey.
“It is fantastic privilege to sing there, especially after the recent Royal wedding. It will certainly be a wonderful experience.”
Head teacher Elsie Tough said the experience was a great accolade for the school, highlighting its Christian heritage.
Previously, the choir has sung evensong at York Minster, as well as at St Paul’s, Liverpool and Manchester Cathedrals.
