DETECTIVES in Oldham are investigating after a man grabbed a woman’s arm and told her to get into a car.

She managed to escape from his grip in the terrifying struggle and run off.

The incident happened around 10.15pm on Wednesday, May 18, as the 27-year-old was walking along Cooper Street, Springhead. A small white car pulled up and the passenger grabbed her arm, swore at her and told her to get in.

After escaping, she spoke to a dog walker in the street about what had happened and he then walked her home.

The van drove off down a side street towards Mayfield Avenue.

The driver of the van is described as an Asian man in his mid 20s with a chubby face. He was wearing a black wool beany style hat. The passenger was described as an Asian man, aged 18 to 21, of slim build with short black hair, gelled and combed forwards. He was wearing gloves.

The vehicle is described as a white estate car-type van with plain white body work.

Det Insp Dave Massay, based at Oldham CID, said: “The intentions of these men are not clear: they might have been playing a prank and trying to frighten people for their amusement.

“We are particularly keen to speak to the man who showed community spirit by walking the woman home as he may have seen something that could help our inquiries.”
