Health club brothel claim

AN Oldham businesswoman has been exposed by a Sunday newspaper as running a busy brothel in Oldham town centre.
The News of the World sting alleged that the Georgian Club in Waterloo Street, which poses as a “health club”, is a vice den.
They claim it is run by Anne Bamford — who owns the neighbouring Limo Lounge and organises weddings, school proms and children’s parties — and husband Barry Yorke, who live in Worsley.
An undercover reporter posed as a hooker looking for work at the Georgian Club while a male colleague pretended to be a customer.
Daughter Andrea Bamford talked to the Chronicle in 2009 after she transformed a second-hand shop into the Limo Lounge, which she runs.
It included a small upstairs lounge with a bar and dance area — complete with pole dancing facilities.
There is no suggestion that this is part of the Georgian Club and she said at the time: “The pole is purely for fun. There are lots of people who want a private party for friends and relatives in such a setting as the Limo Lounge.
“As I said, it’s just fun. We are getting inquiries for all sorts of events, from 18th birthdays to divorce parties, from wedding groups to karaokes. This is a flexible space which has been tastefully finished and offers somewhere different to relax.
“There is a lot of doom and gloom out there at the moment, but people can come here and have some fun in a private setting and get away from everything, if only for an evening.
“They can be picked up in a limousine, and taken on somewhere else later if they choose, that’s just another part of the service. They can use the vehicles and the Limo Lounge independently.”
