It’s a mystery

Coma man still doesn’t know what happened
THE family of a Delph man who came close to death when he fractured his skull are still no closer to knowing how he suffered his horrific injuries.

Joshua Troops fell into a coma when he was found in a garden in Delph New Road at 11am on Sunday, March 20.

He was taken to Hope Hospital in Salford and his family were told to expect the worst as his injuries were so severe.

The 22-year-old, who works at kitchen furniture suppliers FDK in Delph New Road, is now on the long road to recovery but has no recollection of the events surrounding his accident.

He was seen sitting on a wall at the junction of Oldham Road and Delph New Road and at a bus stop in Delph New Road less than an hour before he was discovered. Police believe he may have fallen off a wall or been assaulted.

His mum Debbie said: “Joshua is making miraculous progress but we are still no closer to finding out what happened to him. It seems incredible that this happened in broad daylight and no-one saw anything.

“We live in hope that someone will come forward to help us put the pieces together.

“He is an absolute miracle. His injuries are still very serious and there is an awfully long way to go.

“It has been a nightmare and it still is but he is out of the coma and he is mobile. We are still stunned but thankful to everyone who has sent messages of support, especially the people of Delph where we live.

“It will be a long time before Joshua can come home as it is very hard to predict progress with brain injuries. It is hard being on the sidelines as a mum and you feel out of control but every day he gets better is a bonus.”

A fundraising event for Joshua has been organised at Delph Liberal Club on Friday. There will be a live band, DJ, karaoke, raffle and auction and it is hoped that Joshua will be able to attend.

Mrs Troops added: “The people of Saddleworth have really pulled together to show their support and we are very grateful.

“If I lived to be a million years old I would never be able to thank the staff at Hope Hospital enough. They truly saved Joshua’s life.”
