Vicky wears it well

TRENDY Vicky Sowerby is approaching the half-way mark in a charity challenge which will see her wear a different outfit every day for a year.

On June 1, Vicky will hit the point where she has six months of success under her belt, with just 182 new combinations to tease out of her vast wardrobe.

Her daily efforts have so far raised £1,440 for Oldham Cancer Support Centre, and she hopes to get a midway boost to the fund by appealing for more support.

The 33-year-old mum set herself a tough challenge when she vowed not to buy or borrow a single item.

And she has thrown £50 a month, which she would normally have spent on clothes, into the fundraising pot. She plans to say thank-you to all her supporters by ending her challenge with a frock-swap ball in December.

Vicky’s Make Do Not Spend campaign has caught the imagination of thrifty Oldhamers, and she was invited to join brownies at Royton’s Trinity Methodist Church to help them make corsages, brooches and headbands from recycled materials.

She is happy to talk to more girls’ groups and can be contacted on 07812-367 515.
