Darren Guy, a 37-year-old Oldham healthcare manager, has won the UK Registered Manager Award having already previously won a regional category in 2010.

Mr Guy, who has worked in the NHS and private sector healthcare services for many years, received the award at the Royal Courts of Justice in London beating the UK’s best talent in the field of homecare and care management.

He was presented with the prize by Kate Garraway, from ITV’s Daybreak TV show, in front of an audience of 600 of the country’s leading care providers and industry chiefs.

Mr Guy said: “This is a huge achievement for both myself and Domus Healthcare Group and builds on the Oldham team winning the Pride of Oldham 2010 for Outstanding Quality Services across the borough.”

Based at the Windsor Works, Gravel Walks, Mumps, Domus Healthcare provides personalised care.

Mr Guy added: “An outstanding team of care staff and professionals have helped me win this award. We are the largest provider of homecare services in the Oldham area employing, more than 125 people, and we have plans to expand our range of services allowing people even greater choice.

“Too often news focuses on the bad aspects of the care industry and this just goes to show that there is lots of good at a time when cuts are driving us to focus on quality and delivery more than ever.”
