Damaged tree shuts road
Date published: 24 May 2011
A TREE which had split in two in high winds led to a major commuter route being closed yesterday.
Oldham Road was shut at the junction with Mossley Road, in Grasscroft, at around 5.30pm, because of fears the tree at the rear of the Farrar’s Arms pub could fall. Oldham Council, along with the police, made the area safe and re-routed traffic at the busy junction until tree surgeons could arrive to deal with the damaged tree.
