Three quizzed over hammer attack

THREE masked men attacked a man with a sledgehammer in his Saddleworth home.
The violent trio burst into the house in Grotton Meadows at around 11pm on Wednesday.
The victim, a 32-year-old man, and his wife went downstairs to check on the noise and one of the men hit him with a hammer causing injuries to his arm and face, before they ran off.
The man was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries and is now recovering at home.
Officers were able to trace the car and a man was arrested. Near-by patrols and traffic officers made further inquiries which led to another two men being arrested.
The trio, aged 17, 18 and 19 were arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and remain in custody for questioning.
Det Insp Javid Pervaiz said: “Officers were responding to a particularly violent incident which has left the victim and his family badly shaken.
“This was an example of good work between the traffic officers and local patrols, proving that we all work to serve our communities.”
