THREE music groups from Crompton House School have been invited to play at Birmingham Symphony Hall.

The junior orchestra, school orchestra and wind band were selected to take part in the National Festival of Music for Youth in July after impressing judges at a regional final in Rochdale.

Judges from the regional contest told the musicians they provided “a terrific performance.”

While the junior orchestra make their debut appearance in Birmingham, the other groups are well-versed, with a combined six appearances in previous years behind them.

School director of music Jack Pickford said: “I am especially pleased for the junior orchestra, as they played with such enthusiasm. All the pupils will gain so much by playing in one of the country’s top concert halls.”

Elsie Tough, head teacher at Crompton House, said she the pupils had put in a lot of time and effort with their music, adding: “I can often hear them practising from my office and it always makes me feel so proud.”
