Band members out for a duck
Date published: 02 June 2011
More than 1,500 yellow plastic ducks will be freed on the Chew Brook in Greenfield on Sunday to make the dreams of a local band come true.
Boarshurst Band has established a fund-raising committee to get to the national championships in September, after becoming the only band in Oldham to reach the prestigious competition.
The ducks will be released at 1pm from the bridge at Greenfield Cricket Club on Ladhill Lane.
It will then be followed by an afternoon of music outside the Boarshurst Band Club from 2.30pm.
The race will carry cash prizes, with £100 going to the person who selects the winning duck.
Anyone interested should ring the band club on 01457- 875 836 for their £1 duck.
