PUPILS at St Joseph’s Primary School, Shaw, staged a disappearing act when they donned camouflage gear and learnt how to blend into their surroundings after finding out all about Army field craft.

Staff Sergeant Andy Brooke, from the Royal Engineers, visited the school to put the Year 6 youngsters through their paces.

Deputy head teacher Steve Hill said: “The children had a great time getting muddy, camouflaged up and crawling around in the bushes. It was a bit wet but that didn’t put us off!

“It was a great experience for the children and an insight into military operations.”
