A NIGHT of musical sophistication awaits visitors to Failsworth School as they host a jazz and rock extravaganza.
The specialist sports college, in Brierley Avenue, will welcome the world famous A Band on June 29 and 30.
Matthew Garlick, director of learning and conductor of the school band, said: “The concerts are a fabulous opportunity for Failsworth School students and members of the local community to work alongside and collaborate with world renowned professional musicians in this high profile event.”
The A Band is made up of professional musicians and performers who have worked on productions in London’s West End as well as touring with stars such as Shirley Bassey, U2, Tom Jones and Duffy.
They appeal to all ages, covering tracks by artists such as Frank Sinatra, Brian Adams, Robbie Williams and Michael Jackson.
The band will be joined by former Duran Duran saxophonist Simon Willescroft, BBC Big Band singer Matthew Ford and soloist Natalie McGrath for the two night spectacular.
Members of the Failsworth School Community Band and Choir will also take part in the performances.
The concerts, which will take place in the school theatre from 6.30pm, will have a relaxed cabaret feel with a fully licensed bar and waiter service.
