New head to join Crompton House
Date published: 09 June 2011
IT’S all change at Crompton House as staff and pupils prepare to welcome a new head teacher.
Sarah Calvert, currently head at Fairfax Business and Enterprise College in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, will take up the post next month, only weeks before the Rochdale Road school becomes an academy.
Ms Calvert has led Fairfax, which opened in 1959 and is home to almost 1,400 pupils, since September, 2006.
The secondary school gained specialist status for business and enterprise in 2004.
An Ofsted report completed in February this year deemed Fairfax to be good with outstanding features.
Inspectors praised the leadership of the school saying there was an impressive culture of trust and confidence among staff and that big improvements had been made since the previous visit in 2008.
