Concert takes a walk on the wild side
Date published: 13 June 2011
MUSICAL youngsters will highlight the woes of the world’s wildlife during a spectacular concert.
One Sun One World is the latest in a line of World Wildlife Fund school musicals by composers Peter Rose and Anne Conlon and will be performed by members of Oldham Council’s Music Service later this month.
The musical, written to mark the 50th anniversary of the WWF, celebrates our planet in all its rich diversity and examines changes brought about by human activities in a modern world.
For the performance, the Queen Elizabeth Hall stage will be crammed with 270 young singers recruited from six local primary schools — Beal Vale, St Luke’s, Delph, St Anne’s Greenacres, Coppice and St Herbert’s — supported by soloists and a 40-piece orchestra.
The concert takes place at 7pm on Thursday, June 23. Call 0161-770 5660 for details.
