Head to give leadership talk at national event

AN Oldham head teacher will be sharing his expertise at one of the main educational events of the year.
Darran Lee, head of of Mills Hill Primary School, Chadderton, and Medlock Valley, Fitton Hill, is among a handful of school leaders invited to speak at the National College’s annual conference, Seizing Success 2011.
More than 1,500 heads, deputies and other leaders from schools, academies and children’s services are due to attend the three-day conference, starting tomorrow at Birmingham’s International Convention Centre, where they will be addressed by Education Secretary Michael Gove .
Mr Lee, who will present two workshops on leadership and improving the school system, said: “The conference provides an opportunity to share the work of our two schools in Oldham and the wider developments we have be leading across our region. It’s a great privilege to speak at such a high-profile event.”
Steve Munby, chief executive of the National College, said: “With a rapidly changing education landscape, the quality of school leadership has never been more important.
“This event will give delegates an opportunity to hear from top-class speakers from as far afield as Australia and New Zealand.”
