AN award-winning service which delivers at-home care to help adults stay in their own homes for as long as possible has a new member of staff.
Helen Thomas (32) has been appointed care manager at Oldham and Saddleworth’s Home Instead Senior Care, based at the head office in Church Road, Uppermill.
She will be responsible for many aspects of the day-to-day running of the office. Her role also covers recruitment, training new staff, compliance and quality assurance.
Helen (pictured) was previously care manager at a residential home in Huddersfield working with adults with learning disabilities, a post she held for 15 years before looking for a new challenge.
She then moved to a post at a residential care home for the elderly but soon decided that the job wasn’t for her, she didn’t feel that she would be able to make a difference.
Having put her CV on the Internet, Helen was delighted when Home Instead owners Mick and Jenny Sheehan approached her to join the team of 32 carers.
Helen said: “I have joined Home Instead Senior Care because I want to work in care for a quality-driven provider with a genuine passion for the work that they do.
“I am very proud of the quality service that we are delivering and we are receiving fantastic feedback from both clients and carers.”
Mr Sheehan said: “Helen has a wealth of experience and is passionate about her work and the service we provide.”
Home Instead’s services are tailored to the needs of individual clients and range from companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, post-discharge care, personal care, medication reminders, shopping and errands.
The service is available 24-hours-a-day, seven-days- a-week.
