Blues festival weekend

A THREE-DAY blues festival opens in Diggle on Friday.![]()
It is the second event after a successful launch last year attracted music-lovers from all over the country.
David Wood (59), the blues-mad organiser, from Diggle, said: “Last year was quite successful with members of the public saying they enjoyed the weekend.
“After seeing the Marsden Jazz Festival, I felt Diggle needed something similar — so I thought of blues music, which I love. The only way to describe blues music is jeans in fridge music.”
Nine bands will be playing at four different venues over three days.
The blues festival will serve as a continuation of Saddleworth’s musical summer, coming a week after the popular Whit Friday Brass Bands contest. Admission is free to all the gigs with musicians from around the country performing.
