Nine sets of twins at multiple-birth play group
YOU’D BE forgiven for seeing double in these adorable snapshots of Oldham’s only multiple-birth play-group.

Nine sets of twins gather for a fun-filled play sessions at Pea Pods, a new weekly meeting place for mums with their hands full.

One morning a week, the Children’s Centre at Holy Trinity School in Dobcross is twice as bustling as mums and tots take advantage of the specialised support group.

The idea was the brainchild of Ali Gladwell who, while expecting twins, met fellow multiple-birth mothers Jody Earnshaw and Jodie Booth.

Ali’s twins, Freddie and Lola, are now aged two, but the support from the group has made the journey easier.

Ali, from Diggle, said: “Finding out I was expecting twins was a bit of a shock. You just don’t know where to start and we all said that we wished there would have been a group to provide support.

“The group is booming and we’re thrilled we set it up.

“Everything from advice about buggies to what supermarkets provide two-baby trollies, it all comes in handy.”

Mums now travel from every corner of the borough to attend, whether during their pregnancy or as a place to take their identical little ones.

Ali added: “It’s damned hard but there are some great positives too to having twins. The reaction from the group has been fantastic and we’d even consider setting another up.”

The group meets each Thursday (10.15-11.45am) and has even set up a web page at www.peadpodssupport.co.uk
