M60 shut by crash
Date published: 27 June 2011
TWO Lanes of the M60 were closed on Friday when a car burst into flames after crashing into a motorway lamppost near junction 22 Hollinwood.
The car was travelling clockwise from the A62 to Ashton junction 23 at about 5pm when it hit the post on the grass verge of the slip road.
Fire crews from Hollins were called at 5.15pm but the 29-year-old male driver was out of the car and being treated by a doctor who had spotted the accident while driving.
Police closed two lanes while the debris was cleared, causing long delays until the road reopened at 7.45pm. The driver was uninjured.
