Police hunt for sick text pest

A PERVERTED text pest who told an Oldham mum he liked her two-year-old daughter’s pink knickers is being hunted by police.

The harassment began for the Oldham mother-of-one when she advertised her travel cot for sale on Loot online.

As part of the process, she filled in a form containing her mobile number and email address — which includes her full name — as a point of contact for potential buyers. But she began to regret it once she started getting lewd text messages from an anonymous “buyer”.

Now the pervert has used public records to locate her home address and is sending her daily obscenities regarding her two-year-old daughter — which mentioned the clothes she was wearing.

Texts included: “Your daughter looks nice in her pink dress and pink knickers.”

Now Greater Manchester detectives are investigating. The mum, who does not wish to be named, said: “I just want to warn other people who may be selling children’s items online that this kind of thing might happen — it’s sick.”

She said at first the texts were of a friendly and enquiring nature, but quickly turned offensive when she said the cot had been sold.

She added: “I started getting strange texts asking where my local hospital was and then other kinds of texts came through, so I didn’t reply.

“For someone who hasn’t got a supportive family, like I have, this would send them over. I’ve been staying away from home.”

When the Chronicle called the mystery texter, the phone was “unavailable”.

Police say they are investigating and inquiries are continuing.

Detective Chief Inspector Rick Mortimer, of Oldham CID, said: “Understandably, the unwanted contact from this man has caused the woman some concern and I would encourage other people to be mindful about what kind of personal information they make publically available.”
