Fresh hope for Tory club sale
Date published: 06 July 2011
THE FUTURE of Oldham’s former Conservative Club could be sealed by the end of the week.
The Union Street property failed to attract a buyer at an auction last Thursday, but two interested parties are now involved in negotiations.
One wants to lease the building while another wants to buy it and use it for leisure use — notably a restaurant.
Ryder and Dutton director Ian Hill said: “Even though the bids didn’t get to an acceptable level for our client, the auction has generated interest.
“We’re hopeful that a deal can be reached with one of the parties.
“Obviously it needs a lot money spent on it but it could be a great opportunity.”
