A CHARISMATIC initiative to get young people into drama is set to take centre stage at Oldham Coliseum.

The budding performers from the Sholver and Moorside area are culminating eight months of rehearsals into their inaugural performance at the theatre.

CHARISMA (Campaign for Heritage And Recreation In the Sholver & Moorside Area) obtained funding last July from Fairshare to provide drama classes for young people in the area.

Chair of CHARISMA, Sonja Costello, said: “This has been a really exciting project and everyone involved seems to have enjoyed the experience.”

Two productions of “Circle of Life”, directed by the theatre’s Billy Cullen, are being held on Saturday — one at the Coliseum’s studio room and the other at Sholver Youth Centre.

The latter is the only one open to the public, with the other in front of family and invited guests.

A total of eleven 7-11 year-olds from St James’ ward are telling the fairytale of Eva, played by Caitlin Horsfield (9), who lives like Cinderella, with her wicked step mother and step sister.

If you wish to reserve your free ticket for the Sholver Youth Centre performance, email: sonja.costello@charismainoldham.com — or turn up on the day at 4pm.
