Car rally’s classic appeal

MOTORING enthusiasts are invited to rally around for a vintage show.

The annual car rally returns to Oldham town centre for a sixth year.

Organisers have not taken their foot off the pedal with over 50 cars set for display on the High Street this Sunday.

The vehicles range from early 20th century models all the way up to modern classics.

The cars will be judged under eight different categories with Councillor Richard Knowles, the Mayor of Oldham, presenting a trophy for the Car of the Show.

Andrew Fletcher, chair of the Town Centre Partnership, which is working in conjunction with the Tame Valley Vintage and Classic Car Club, said: “I am delighted to welcome this rally back to Oldham.

“This rally is just one of a series of events that is taking place in the town centre this year.”

And Peter Moore, from the car club said: “It is good to be back for a sixth year — the level of interest that the cars get when we come to Oldham is always high.”

Owners will be on hand to chat about their car’s history to fellow enthusiasts.
