IMPOVERISHED youngsters in Africa will be showing their true colours thanks to a raft of generous donations from pupils at Failsworth School.
Pupils from the school’s Atlanta house have handed over 150 sports shirts to PE teacher Lauren Kelly.
The intrepid teacher is spending her summer journeying to Uganda to lead summer camps with some of the poorest youngsters in Africa.
The shirts will be shipped out to the region ahead of Lauren’s four-week mission as she readies to jet out just days into the summer break on Tuesday July 26.
She said: “I’ve been overwhelmed with the response from the pupils, I don’t think they realise the difference they will be making.
“These children have absolutely nothing. Recently my friend took three shirts out and the kids went hysterical, I can’t wait to see their reaction when we give them one each.
“It think the whole trip will be really emotional.”
Lauren will be raising cash for Hands For Hope, an education, health and poverty charity in Uganda, and visiting a four-year-old child that she sponsors.
