Recycling plant blaze
Date published: 12 July 2011
TWO fires at industrial units in Heyside this morning are believed to have been started deliberately.
Around 30 firefighters tackled a blaze in a pile of plastic at a recycling plant in Meek Street at 2.30am.
An aerial appliance was used as fire crews stopped it spreading to a building.
A portable cabin around 200 yards away was also set on fire at about the same time. Again, firefighters battled to prevent the flames spreading to a building.
It is not known if the two incidents are linked.
