OLDHAM was today toasting the achievements of its latest crop of graduates in a cap and gown ceremony at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.

IT’S honours even for first-class sisters Nazmin and Yasmin Sultana.

When big sister Yasmin became a star student, there was no way that 21-year-old Nazmin was going to be second best.

And she has made it a double by gaining a first-class business management degree from UCO — a year after Yasmin achieved the same feat.

The pair were the first people in their family to attend university.

Nazmin, of Westwood Drive, Oldham, said that she picked up good habits from Yasmin (22).

She explained: “I noticed how she would stay on in the library until late at night, so I did the same and it paid off. I was determined to get a first-class degree as well.

“When it came to my final revision, she tried to give me some tips, but we did have completely different learning styles.”

Both sisters were interviewed and enrolled by Dr Kalim Siddiqui, who said: “They were always very hard working, taking plenty of notes and participating very enthusiastically in seminars.

“They never missed a class and met all their deadlines. They were the best in their group and determined to do well.”
