A GROUP of intrepid cyclists from Saddleworth are tackling a five-day trek for their local mountain rescue team.
The six riders will be going coast-to-coast in an endurance challenge over three national parks.
Travelling from the Irish Sea at St Bees on the Cumbrian coast, the fundraisers will cover 210 off-road miles in five days and end up at Robin Hood’s Bay on Yorkshire’s east coast.
Ian Kelly, of Uppermill, said: “It’s been an ambition of ours for a long time and we decided to help out Oldham Mountain Rescue Team, as they are a voluntary organisation who do great work.
“We cycle together around two or three time a week and are always cycling in the Saddleworth area.
“We have done a two-day ride before, but five days will be a first for us and we know it will be tough.”
