MUSICAL high ... The Church Lads and Church Girls Band entertains.
IT takes more than rain to put a dampener on community spirit in Heyside!
The second annual Heyside Festival was held at Bullcote Park on Saturday — and declared a success.
The event was organised by Heyside Neighbourhood Council which was re-formed by volunteers last year to promote the area and get residents involved in activities.
Fun attractions ran from noon to 8pm and included performances by Uppermill Brass Band, children’s sports competitions, stalls, a bouncy castle, a barbecue and live music in the evening.
The day cleared up after a torrential shower at about 12.30pm and up to 600 people are estimated to have attended.
Admission was free and the organisers hope that the event will grow in future years.
Pauline Williams from the neighbourhood council said: “It went very well considering the weather. We had good support from the people of Heyside. They rallied round and came out and everyone enjoyed it.”
