Two centenary celebrations combined at the OMC Ford car showrooms when a historic Model T Ford paid a visit.
The company in Manchester Road, Werneth, is celebrating 100 years since it was founded in 1911 — and 100 years ago the first Model Ts built in Britain rolled off the assembly line at Trafford Park.
And to help celebrate the anniversaries, OMC Ford has organised a competition to ask Oldham primary and secondary schoolchildren to design what they think cars will look like in 100 years’ time.
Designs will feature in the OMC Heritage Display in October. Each winning school will also get £500 for technology equipment.
Entries should be on one side of A4 paper, including a description of the car and its features. The closing date is September 17 and entries go to Car of the Future, OMC Ford, 1 Manchester Road, Werneth, Oldham, OL8 4AU, including name address and name of school.
