DETECTIVES have released an image of a man wanted in connection with a sexual assault in Oldham.

The 18-year-old victim was shopping in Oldham town centre on Tuesday, June 7, when she was approached by a man at around 3.05pm.

He told her that she would look nice wearing a particular top and followed her out of the store.

The man continued to try and make conversation with her as she walked to a near-by bus stop and caught a bus. He followed her and sat next to her.

The victim got off the bus at Shaw Road and walked into a shop, again followed by the offender before she started to walk home.

As she walked on to the Higginshaw Estate, near to secluded garages, the man grabbed her and hugged her before he started kissing her.

The victim told him to let go and she pushed him away before running home.

Police have released the image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

PC Zoe Parker, from Oldham East Neighbou-rhood Policing Unit, said: “Clearly the offender was trying to intimidate his victim and she has been left terrified after her ordeal.

“She has lost a lot of confidence and now feels she cannot go out on her own.

“I would urge people to take a good look at the image and if they recognise the man or if they saw the incident take place to contact police as soon as possible.”
