A RETIRED council officer who headed the Gallery Oldham project has died after a battle with cancer.
Nick Ford (64), from Scotland, died on Sunday.
Mr Ford joined Oldham Council from Trafford council in 1988. His first role at Oldham was as assistant director for leisure. In 1997 he became assistant director of education and culture.
Nick leaves his wife Susan, two grown-up children, Alex and Vicky, and one grandchild, Isla.
Former councillor Kay Knox said she was very sorry to hear of his death and sent her condolences to his family.
“Putting Gallery Oldham together was his accolade. He wanted to make a mark, something that Oldham could be proud of, and of course it has won many awards.”
Mr Ford’s funeral is at Holy Trinity Church, Waterhead, at 10.30am on August 3, prior to a private family committal at Oldham Crematorium.
