A WOMAN has been given a 12-month community order after holding a knife to a 15-year-old girl.

Raidha Hussain (19), from Denmark Way, Chadderton, held the the 4in blade against her victim and told her she wanted to kill her during the incident on April 9.

Hussain originally pleaded not guilty to one charge of assault by beating at an earlier court hearing but changed her plea to guilty on May 25.

Oldham Magistrates’ Court heard how Hussain and her victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had a history of heated arguments.

They had both been in a house in Chadderton when Hussain entered the front room and started shouting at the victim.

She slapped the girl’s face and back and dragged her towards the kitchen by her wrist before grabbing a knife from a drawer.

She pointed the knife at the girl’s chest and said she wanted to kill her.

She then attempted to put the knife in her victim’s hand and point the blade towards herself.

The incident only ended when an adult in the house shouted at her to stop.

Police were called and when they arrived, Hussain screamed at officers: “Go on, arrest me. If you don’t, I’ll kill her.”

In a victim impact statement, the girl said the incident happened out of the blue and it had left her shocked and extremely scared.

Andrew Cole, defending, said Hussain had not threatened the girl with the knife and had no intention of actually using it.

He said Hussain was now under the care of the mental health crisis team and was accepting medication.

He said: “Whether out of frustration or the onset of mental health issues, the way she acted was inappropriate.”

Chairman of the bench Alan Hallworth gave her a 12-month community order with mental health treatment requirements.

She was also ordered to pay £85 costs.
