COUNCILLOR Richard Knowles and fellow walkers set off on the 10th annual Oldham Way Challenge
THE Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Richard Knowles, ignored the weight of his chain of office as he led the way on the 10th annual Oldham Way Challenge.
The Mayor joined young people during Friday and Saturday’s 40-mile hike that took in most of the Oldham Way circular footpath around the borough.
The event was organised by the Castleshaw Centre, part of Oldham’s Integrated Youth Services.
Councillor Knowles raised money for the range of good causes (Promobility — Oldham’s Shopmobility scheme, Barnardos Oldham and Dr Kershaw’s Hospice) that he has chosen this year for the Mayor’s Charity.
Approximately 70 young people from groups organised by Oldham’s Integrated Youth Services also took part.
