LATICS stars fronted a crime-stopping campaign by handing out new kits to youngsters.

Members of the Athletic squad launched the new initiative — which encourages young people to report crime — by presenting the strip to members of the Kickz project.

The jerseys are sponsored by Crimestoppers’ Fearless scheme which uses the www.fearless.org  website to provide young people with information relating to crimes that affect them.

The site also contains advice about how to report crime anonymously.

The event marked the official launch of the partnership between Oldham Athletic’s community programme and Fearless.

Chairman of Greater Manchester Crimestoppers Edith Conn said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with the Oldham Athletic Kickz programme to promote Fearless.

“The campaign helps young people make the right choices in life and enables them to be a positive influence in their community.”

James Mwale, from the Oldham Athletic Community Trust, was pleased with how well the event was received.

He said: “I’d like to say thank-you to Crimestoppers on behalf of Oldham Athletic Kickz for providing the new kit.

“I know these young people are excited to play in a brand new strip and are proud to display the Fearless message wherever they go.”
