Date published: 05 August 2011
THE future of Oldham’s T J Hughes store remains in the balance after it escaped a cull of 22 stores.
Administrators Ernst and Young have announced that 20 English and two Scottish shops will close in the next two weeks with the loss of 1,062 jobs.
This includes the Rochdale branch, which will close on Thursday with the loss of 40 jobs.
Administrators are looking for buyers for the remaining 31 stores, including Oldham.
Tom Jack, Joint Administrator, said: “We continue in negotiations and we are keen to stress that those stores unaffected by these closures will continue to trade for the time being, with new stock lines being added.”
