WORK has started on building five new houses in Higginshaw.
Guinness Northern Counties chief executive Carol Matthews was on site at Wastwater Street where the Oldham-based association is extending its existing Higginshaw Village estate.
Also attending the inspection were Oldham councillors Dave Hibbert, Mohammed Masud, Ali Aqeel Salamat and Shadab Qumer, who are working in partnership with Guinness Northern Counties on the £632,000 project.
The development, which has received £305,000 in grant funding from the Government’s Homes and Communities Agency, will see the creation of an additional three 3-bedroom and two 4-bedroom homes for rent, which will be available to local people on the council’s housing register.
