HUNDREDS of cannabis plants were recovered from a farm in Lees
A HAUL of over 300 cannabis plants has been uncovered at an address in Lees.
Police discovered the drugs farm after executing a warrant at Sunnybank, where the plants were found to be growing inside metal storage containers.
An investigation is now underway to find the offenders behind the cultivation, found shortly after 9am on Tuesday, August 2.
Inspector Dan Milovanovic, from the Saddleworth & Lees Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “To recover such a large amount of cannabis is a great result for the people of Lees and for the police.
“The electricity supply had been illegally tampered with and colleagues from the utilities provider were called out to make the electricity supply safe.”
Alongside drug-cultivating equipment approximately 300 small seedling plants were seized as well as 12 fully grown ones.
Inspector Milovanovic added: “Thanks to the information we received from the community, we have been able to prevent these drugs being sold on the street.
“I would encourage anyone with information about other potential cannabis farms or those involved in the sale and supply of drugs to get in touch.”
Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 872 5050 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
