Web wonder Jacob Teal has launched a new marketing website
WHAT are the words of one of Britain’s most famous poets worth?
One enterprising teenager is hoping the answer is... quite a lot.
Saddleworth School pupil Jacob Teal (15) is relying on a pioneering idea and the words of William Wordsworth to raise some cash for university.
He may have a couple years yet but Jacob, of Ivy Green Drive, Springhead, has wasted no time in setting up a website displaying the well-known poem “Daffodils”.
Businesses or individuals can buy each word from the poem to create a link to their own websites for visitors to click on.
Jacob said: “I got the idea from a site that aimed to make a million dollars by selling pixels to advertisers. I thought it would be great to do it with poetry, although I don’t aim to make anywhere near that much.
“It’s an advertising concept that’s a bit different and the website has been getting quite a few hits.”
A self-taught web enthusiast, Jacob has written the code for the webpage himself and has now set up another site encouraging young entrepreneurs to tap into the internet as a money spinner.
He said: “The web is a good way to explore new ways to make money, I’ve already started designing websites for companies.
“If the words of this site sell out I may consider expanding or doing another version.”
