Drugs accused before courts

SEVERAL Oldham men accused of drug dealing following police raids have appeared in court.

They are among 15 arrested after officers swooped on 15 addresses in dawn raids across the borough and in Ashton on July 21.

Akhtar Hussain (19), of Clarkwell Close, Coldhurst, and Mohammed Ruhel Miah (19), of Main Road, Westwood, were both sentenced to two years and nine months in a young offenders’ institute at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court.

Hussain had pleaded guilty to four charges of attempting to supply heroin and cocaine to an undercover officer. Miah had admitted to two charges of supplying Class A drugs.

Hasan Ullah (21), of Middleton Road, Oldham, has pleaded guilty to supplying Class A drugs and will be sentenced at Minshull Street Crown Court on October 21.

Ashrafur Rahman (19), of Richmond Walk, Werneth; Ghulam Hussain (20), of Eleanor Street, Westwood; and Ghulam Mustafa (28), of Eleanor Street, Westwood, have all been charged with supplying Class A drugs and have appeared at Oldham Magistrates’ Court. They were granted conditional bail to reappear on September 13.

Joshim Ali (18), of Widdop Street, Westwood; Abdul Ullah (21), of Middleton Road, Oldham; and Mohammed Mutiur Rahman (18), of Colwyn Street, Westwood, were all charged with supplying Class A drugs. They were granted unconditional bail by Oldham magistrates and their case adjourned until September 29.

Christopher Delaney (32), of Buckfast Avenue, Alt, has been charged with being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and also had his case adjourned until September 29 and unconditional bail granted.

Aaron Flanagan (24), of Earnshaw Close, Ashton, Aaron Southwood (26), of Cherry Avenue, Alt, and Curtis Swales (24), of Fir Tree Avenue, Fitton Hill, were charged with supplying Class A drugs and have been remanded on unconditional bail to appear before Oldham Magistrates on September 1 for committal.

An 18-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs, have both been bailed until September 6 pending further inquiries.
