Magical day out for our winners
Date published: 10 August 2011
A CLASS of 30 enjoyed a fabulous all-expenses paid trip to North-West theme park Camelot after winning the Chronicle’s Paperchase competition for schools.
Classes from eight local primary schools collected old Chronicle newspapers for recycling during Local Newspaper Week back in May.
The winners were those who gathered most: a year six class from Hey with Zion were the resounding winners after stockpiling more than 1,000 copies.
They grabbed the chance for their prize trip out as the school broke up for the summer holidays, as a final farewell before going their separate ways at secondary school.
Deputy head, Andrew Clowes, said: “Everything went exceptionally smoothly, so many thanks for organising it.”
A total of 600 children from across the borough took part in the competition, and all received a two-for-one voucher for Camelot to use during the summer holidays.
