It’s happy birthday to Irene Jones, 104 today — who puts her long life down to drinking Guinness every night!
Bingo and knitting fan Irene enjoys chatting with her friends Sally Kershaw and Edith Milne at Oakdene Home in Lees.
From the age of 12 she worked in a Lees mill and later became a dinnerlady at Springhead School.
Grandaughter Kim Fox said: “She’s still amazing when you look at her — she’s always immaculately dressed and makes an effort with her beads and her brooch on.”
