Man threatened in street robbery
TWO e-fit images have been released after a man was threatened with a knife in a terrifying ordeal carried out by a nine-man gang.
The 23-year-old victim was walking out of an alleyway on Ely Street, Werneth, when he was approached by the yobs.
They surrounded him and demanded he empty his pockets. When he refused, he was punched in the face.
But when one of the men produced a knife from his jacket pocket and threatened to use it, the victim had no choice but to throw his mobile and money to the ground.
He managed to flee and immediately reported the incident, which happened at around 6.30pm on Friday, August 5, to police.
The thugs are all Asian. The first offender is in his 20s, of slim build, 5ft 3in tall with shaved black hair that had two lines in the left side.
He wore a grey jumper with military-style epilates, blue jeans and had a gold-coloured watch.
The second robber is in his 20s, around 6ft tall, very thin with short cropped brown hair. He had one brown eye and one green or hazel-coloured eye. He wore a grey Nike hooded top and grey tracksuit bottoms.
A third man is in his late teens, of stocky build, 5ft 9in tall with short brown hair. He was wearing a blue Henley’s T-shirt with a yellow pattern on it and blue cropped jeans.
Of the remaining offenders, one wore a New York Yankees baseball cap.
PC Jenna Linaker, from the Volume Crime Team, said: “The gang used their size in numbers to intimidate the victim and get what they wanted. He has been left shocked by his ordeal.
“I would urge people to take a good look at the images and descriptions of the offenders and if they recognise them, contact us as soon as possible.”
