Oldham Sixth Form College pair Rachel Bramah and Thomas Miller bagged a bumper 10 A* grades between them.

Rachel (18), from Royton, scored five A* grades despite being hospitalised with severe migraines weeks before her exams. She’s now secured her place at St Andrew’s University to study medicine.

She said: “I’m so pleased and relieved, I didn’t expect these grades. I missed a lot of college in the last few weeks.”

Talented Thomas, from Dobcross, is off to Oxford University to study physics. His dream is to go into nuclear physics.

He said: “I’m really pleased — I’ll be heading to the pub tonight!”
