Looter awaits his fate

LOOTER Levi Lawrence (18), of Coalshaw Green Road, Chadderton, who admitted burgling Marks and Spencer has been remanded in custody for sentencing next month.

Three local teenagers, who can’t be named for legal reasons, have also appeared in court in Manchester.

A 15-year-old, from Derker, was remanded in custody after he pleaded guilty to public nuisance. The court heard he was caught starting a fire in some rubbish next to a block of flats.

A 15-year-old boy from Failsworth denied two counts of burglary after police allegedly found him with items looted from Foot Asylum and Cash Converter.

A 17-year-old from Chadderton admitted possessing cannabis after going into the city centre to buy drugs. He was caught in King Street and was sentenced to 18 hours reparation.

Senior judges blasted the rioters and looters during the hearings, describing the acts as “intolerable lawlessness” and accusing parents of letting children run wild.


Looter faces jail
A FAILSWORTH woman is facing jail after helping herself to booze from Tesco during Manchester’s riots.

Jade Wallace (22) admitted burglary and will be sentenced at Manchester Crown Court on August 25.

A convicted shoplifter, Wallace was caught carrying bottles of alcohol and a pack of razor blades in the early hours of August 10.

She had snatched the goods from the Princess Street supermarket during the widespread looting in the city centre.

Prosecutors said she had two previous convictions for shoplifting in 2009 and 2011.

Greater Manchester Police has now arrested 282 people and charged 184.
