Children get in the swing at new park
Date published: 22 August 2011
THE FIRST of two new play sites was unveiled at Daisy Nook Country Park on Friday — part of a £648,900 investment in play equipment across the borough by the Children’s Play Initiative.
The second will be opened at Tandle Hill Country Park on August 31.
Councillor Hugh McDonald, cabinet member for children, young people and families, said: “This is a great investment in play equipment at two of the most popular sites in the borough and greatly improves opportunities for our young people.”
In 2006, the Big Lottery Fund launched its £155 million funding initiative for children’s play with the aim of creating, improving and developing play provision in the areas of greatest need.
