Council Cabinet meeting
A NEW school safety zone in Greenacres Road, between Hill Street and Ryeburne Street will be built at a cost of £480,000.

The zone will be created outside St Annes RC Primary School and Greenacres Primary School and will include road humps and speed cushions, improved road markings, traffic signs, street lighting, bus stops and footways.

New and extended restricted waiting and parking orders will also be introduced, as will a 20mph speed limit.

The scheme was created in a bid to maintain the current low accident record of seven casualties with minor injuries between July, 2003, to June, 2008.

The Unity Partnership delivered 700 letters to the two schools, residents and businesses along Greenacres Road and the surrounding area as part of the consultation process.

The scheme is funded by section 106 money, a Local Transport Grant and £180,000 from the prudential borrowing for highways scheme, so there will be no call on council resources.
