A SWEET treat has been unveiled in Oldham that will boost charity funds across the North-West.
Throughout September, Greenhalgh’s bakery stores will be selling special cupcakes to support leading cancer charity Macmillan Cancer Support’s flagship fundraising event, the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
It was launched at Greenhalgh’s Curzon Street store in Oldham, where locals were quick to tuck in and raise vital funds.
The cupcakes, emblazoned with the event’s logo, will be sold for 69p from the 60 North-West stores. For every cupcake sold, 5p will then be donated to the charity.
Sandra Ogden, head of retail operations at Greenhalgh’s, said: “Greenhalgh’s staff love entering into the spirit of the day with our customers and knowing that our collective efforts are making a huge difference to people affected by cancer. The staff will also be dressing up to raise even more money on Friday, September 30.”
This year is Macmillan’s 21st World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. Last year, there were 63 staged in Oldham, which raised a fantastic £15,286 towards funding vital practical, emotional, financial and medical support for those affected by cancer in the local area.
Fundraising manager Rose Tipton said: “Hosting a coffee morning is easy and effective. It’s as simple as getting together with some friends or colleagues, having a drink, eating some cake and making a donation.
“This year is the 21st year of the event and we are urging as many people as possible to sign up and join in the fun!’
