GENEROUS donations saw £2,000 raised at a charity fundraising event for a plucky teenager’s chosen charities.

Sophie Wheeler (18) suffers from cystic fibrosis and is currently on the the organ-transplant list.

The former Counthill School pupil decided to help raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and the Starlight Children’s Foundation, which grants wishes for seriously-ill children, by holding a charity day at St Anne’s Rugby Club, Higginshaw Road.

Family friend Nicholas Russell helped organise the event with local entertainer Andy Lee.

Nicholas said: “It was a really good day with an auction, raffle and lots of live singers, and everyone enjoyed themselves.”

Donations are still being collected so anyone wishing to contribute can call 07761-034 033.
