SPECIAL help . . . Haris Mahmood
A CHARITY which has helped to light up little Haris Mahmood’s world is urgently appealing for people to pledge two hours of their time so it can help more children.
The two-year-old from Clarksfield has epilepsy, developmental delay, megablastic anaemia and visual impairment.
He recently received sensory equipment worth £1,200 from the charity Caudwell Children to help at home with his his frequent seizures and development.
Now it is appealing for people to help raise funds by taking part in a collection from 1pm to 3pm before Saturday’s match between Oldham Athletic and Stevenage at Boundary Park.
Caudwell Children provides treatment, therapy equipment and family support services for disabled children throughout the UK. Since it was set up in 2000 has spent more than £13 million helping to thousands of youngsters with 350 different medical conditions.
Haris spends a lot of time in hospital — with admissions lasting anything from a week to over a month — where there is specialist sensory equipment to help with his condition.
Thanks to Caudwell Children he is now able to receive the same benefits at home.
Chief executive Trudi Beswick said: “We are only able to help youngsters like Haris thanks to the support we receive from volunteers and the community.
“We rely on their help to make collections like this as successful as possible. Just two hours of their time goes a long way towards making a real difference.
“We are urging fans, individuals, families, groups of friends or companies to help out on the day.”
